Definition
Human computer interaction studies and designs the relationships between people and computational systems.
Scope
The concept includes interface behavior, feedback, mental models, usability, accessibility, error handling, creative flow, automation and social context.
Applications
Electronic Artefacts uses HCI to reason about VASTE, knowledge navigation, graph tools, audio interfaces and AI-assisted creative systems.
Limitations
HCI can become too narrow when reduced to usability metrics alone. Cultural context, power, learning and meaning also matter.
